Dr. Kirk A. Kalogiannis

Dr. Kirk A. Kalogiannis received his bachelor's in biology from Rutgers University and his doctorate in dental medicine (DMD) with honors from Boston University. He then completed a residency in advanced educational training in the field of cosmetic, oral surgery, implants, and reconstructive dental medicine and received a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) from Boston University Medical Center. Dr. Kalogiannis is one of a handful in the country to be presented with the prestigious Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), Board Certified by the American Board of General Dentistry (ABGD), Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (FAAID), and Fellow of the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetics (FIADFE). In 2017 he was awarded with both Diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board of Oral Implantology (DABOI) and Honored Fellow of the AAID. Dr. Kalogiannis is the only implant surgeon to receive these two honors in the same year. The latter, AAID Honored Fellow, is given to only six elite Fellows around the world. For their exemplary commitment, they distinguished themselves and their colleagues through their professional, clinical, research, and academic endeavors. He served as the president of the Northeast District of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).

Dr. Kalogiannis is diversified and well trained and involved in areas of civilian, military, and academia. Not only an advanced dentist but also a trained implantologist, professor in dentistry, and military officer in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Bridging Clinical Practice & Service
He is a Fellow in Oral Implantology and Bone Grafting from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). Dr. Kalogiannis recently completed and passed the written and oral board exam toward his status as a Diplomate and Board Certified in the American Board of Oral Implantology. He was a clinical associate professor at New York University and is currently the director of Park Ave Center for Aesthetic & Implant Dentistry. Served as faculty and lecturer for some of the largest dental implant manufacturers in the world, including Implant Direct and Zimmer-Biomet Institute. He volunteers time to the Donated Dental Service, a charitable and humanitarian organization that helps disabled, medically compromised, and elderly people who need reconstructive dental care.
A Blend of Skills and Experience
Dr. Kalogiannis is also a recipient of the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry's Service Award for his 10 years of dedicated service to the university. More recently he has lectured on implantology in the area of restoring the edentulous mandible utilizing laser-assembled titanium technology to fabricate a titanium superstructure. He is a member of the American Board of General Dentistry, World Academy of Radiosurgery, Harvard University Professional Development Program, American Academy of Implant Dentists, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Academy of Dental Therapeutics, Academy of General Dentistry, American Association of Forensic Dentists, and American Society of Forensic Odontology. Dr. Kalogiannis has been in private practice since 1992 and is licensed to practice in NY, NJ, FL, and MA. He was born and raised in Manhattan.

ABGD
American Board of General Dentistry. Board-certified general dentists set the standard for excellence through their extensive training in all aspects of dentistry. This training expands beyond dental school in residencies and other post-doctoral dental graduate programs. Board certification is awarded only after completion of a series of written, clinical, and oral examinations. Board-certified general dentists are knowledgeable in the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating the many oral conditions and diseases. In addition, they can perform exceptional cosmetic procedures to help you achieve the smile you desire. To become board certified, doctors must pass a very challenging written and oral examination and are required to complete the three stages: qualified, eligible, and certified. Only 350 dentists worldwide are board certified. Dr. Kalogiannis has undergone many hours of advanced training.
FAGD
Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry—According to the Academy, an FAGD “has been recognized by other dentists as a leader who is committed to quality patient care through continuing dental education.” An FAGD dentist must earn a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits, pass a comprehensive examination, and also be an active member of the Academy.
AGD
A dentist who belongs to the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is one of 35,000 dentists dedicated to continuing their dental education to provide the best possible care to their patients. An AGD dentist must complete 75 hours of continuing dental education every three years. — Is educated and trained in all areas related to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a patient's oral health. — Is up to date on the latest procedures and technologies. — Is dedicated to educating and enabling you to make the most informed dental health choices.
AAID
(American Academy of Implant Dentistry) is the oldest implant organization in the world. The AAID has over 5,000 members worldwide. Its illustrious membership includes doctors and surgeons who are leaders and educators worldwide and who perform both the surgical and prosthodontic phases of implant and osseous augmenting procedures. The AAID publishes the Journal of Oral Implantology (JOI), a leading global medical and dental journal that publishes new medical research and review articles that encompass the latest advancements in clinical and scientific research data. The AAID members are encouraged to undergo a lengthy and rigorous credentialing examination to become a FELLOW (FAAID). Educational requirements are 700 hours of continuing education in the science and clinical aspects of implant dentistry. It also includes internal medicine, anatomy, histology, pathology, pharmacology, bone physiology, immunology, radiology, and dental materials. This course and program set establishes a great proficiency of the skill and knowledge of the implant surgeon at the highest level. The AAID is the sponsoring organization of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, the only board that awards the Diplomate and Specialty credentials. All Fellows must attend the yearly AAID Annual Conferences.

ABOI
American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry. This is the next superior level as a dental implant surgeon. The Diplomat status symbolizes that the doctor has distinguished himself to be committed to the highest level of competence in the field of implant dentistry and surgery.
FIADFE
In recognition of services and devotion to the advancement of the various arts of aesthetics in dentistry and medicine.
Recognitions
Dr. Kalogiannis was recognized for his military service and achievements and selected by President Clinton to be one of the elite few of 100 military officers to be trained by the U.S. Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in the highly specialized field of Aerospace Forensic Pathology. He received certificates of recognition and commendations from the City of New York, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, and the U.S. House of Representatives for his outstanding service and extraordinary, unselfish effort as a member of the Identification Unit, whose responsibility it was to identify the victims of the September 11, 2001, attack at the World Trade Center and the crash of American Airlines Flight 587.
Dr. Fatima Popchakova
Dr. Popchakova received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry. She further pursued her education by completing a general dental residency at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Popchakova received extensive training in trauma, cosmetics, pediatrics, dental surgery, and prosthetics.
